Provincial plan to preserve boreal forest sparks concern

Gilles Bisson believes the provincial government's announcement to protect a huge portion of land in Northern Ontario is simply a way to improve its image.

The NDP MPP for Timmins- James Bay said Premier Dalton McGuinty's announcement was "about positioning the government to become green and friendly to First Nations issues."

All of the stakeholders in Northern Ontario want to protect the environment, Bisson said, including First Nations and logging companies.
